Yahoo to pay £250,000 fine for its 2014 data breach

The investigation of Yahoo Data Breach of 2014, which affected more than 515,000 user accounts in the UK, has presented several failures in data protection services of Yahoo UK Services. As a violation of the Data Protection Act 1998, the UK's data watchdog has fined Yahoo £250,000 for compromising data including names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, passwords and security questions.
