Andaman and Nicobar island hit by 6.1 magnitude earthquake

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 hit 310 km southeast of Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar island. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake was at a depth of 40 km. The earthquake struck in the early hours of Tuesday. The National Centre for Seismology, however, reported that the island was hit by two quakes, the first of which was reported near Portblair at 6:27 am.
