Central Sydney under lockdown for a week amid surge in Covid-19 cases

The authorities in Australia have ordered a week-long lockdown in four neighbourhoods of central Sydney to curb the increasing outbreak of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in the region. The city has witnessed dozens of fresh Covid cases whose outbreak has been traced to an infected limousine driver who contracted the disease when he transported an international flight crew from Sydney airport to a quarantine hotel.
