Covid-19 variant first recorded in India found in 60 territories: WHO

The World Health Organisation has said that the variant of the novel coronavirus, that was first detected in India, has been recorded in at least 60 different territories. Named ‘B.1.617 variant’, the variant has been traced to seven new territories, taking the total number to 60. It was earlier recorded in 53 different territories. However, the Indian government has said the term 'Indian variant' was not linked to B.1.617 variant.
