India replaces Brazil as the second worst-hit country by Covid-19

Amid a rapid surge in Covid cases across the country, India has overtaken Brazil as the second worst-hit country by the novel coronavirus. This crisis has deepened further amid a shortage of vaccine doses in Maharashtra and some other states. The country recorded over 1.6 lakh cases today. The death toll in the country has gone beyond 1.75 lakh. Meanwhile, Russia's Sputnik V has been cleared for use in the country.
