Italy blocks shipment of AstraZeneca Covid vaccine to Australia

In a move that may invite backlash from the global community, Italy has invoked a recently introduced European Union regulation to block the shipment of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to Australia. The shipment consisting of over 250,000 doses of AstraZeneca was blocked after Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi called for a tougher stance against companies not abiding by the delivery commitments.
