Japan is all set to expand a state of emergency to eight more prefectures amid a surge in Covid cases fueled by the highly contagious Delta variant. Economy Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura said the plan to expand the state of emergency has been approved by a panel of external experts and it would be enforced in half of the country's 47 prefectures. "The most important task is to beef up the medical system," Nishimura added.
