Significant undercount: WHO says Covid-19 deaths 2 to 3 times higher than reported

The World Health Organisation is of the opinion that the actual death toll due to the Covid-19 outbreak across the world is at least 2 to 3 times higher than what we see in official records. As per the World Health Statistics report by WHO, at least 3 million died due to Covid in 2020 itself, in comparison to the official figure of 1.8 million. WHO's Samira Asma estimated the global death toll at present to be around 6 to 8 million.
