According to a study by some researchers, the variant of the novel coronavirus that emerged in the United Kingdom is nearly 30% to 100% more deadly than previous variants. First detected in Britain in September 2020, the UK variant has since been found in more than 100 other countries. "Coupled with its ability to spread rapidly, this makes B.1.1.7 a threat that should be taken seriously," said researcher Robert Challen.
