$54 million worth of elephant tusks and pangolin parts confiscated in Nigeria

Nigerian authorities have seized a record number of pangolin scales and claws, as well as elephant tusks, valued at $54 million. Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali, comptroller-general of customs, stated in a statement that the confiscation contained 17,137 kg of pangolin scales, 44 kg of elephant tusks, and 60 kg of pangolin claws. Authorities have detained three foreign nationals, according to Ali, and are seeking the operation's ringleader.
