Indian Melbourne couple jailed for keeping a slave

A Melbourne couple was sentenced to jail for 8 years for keeping an elderly woman as a slave. Kumuthini Kannan and her husband Kandasamy were found guilty in April of holding the Tamil grandmother as a working prisoner inside their Mount Waverley home. According to prosecutors, this is the first time an Australian court has heard a case completely involving domestic servitude slavery, and it is the country's longest term of imprisonment.
