Thirty percent increase in murders in US in 2020: FBI

According to data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, murder cases increased by 30 percent in US in 2020. This is the highest one-year jump in murders since the 1960s. According to the FBI's uniform crime report, 21,500 murders were registered in the country in 2020, an increase of 4,901 homicides from 2019. Nearly 77 percent of these murders were committed by firearms in comparison to 74 percent in 2019.
