Polling booths will be no smoking, no tobacco zone during 2019 elections

In order to implement tobacco control laws in the country, the Election Commission has asked all states and UTs to issue instructions to district electoral officers-cum-district magistrates to ensure prohibition of smoking and the use of bidi, cigarette, gutkha, scented/ flavoured chewable tobacco in polling booths during 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Banners with a message on ill-effects of tobacco will also be displayed.
