Binalonan, a town in the Philippines, located 3 hours from Manila, has enforced strict penalties for people caught gossiping. Gossip or chismis as known in the Philipines is now illegal. The mayor passed a law as rumours were spread mostly in summer when people chatted, discussed finances & affairs of others. Most gossip causes were of property, money, & relationships. The punishment for gossiping is picking up actual trash.
