Television actress Pratyusha Banerjee gained popularity as Anandi in the television show "Balika Vadhu". In 2016, Pratyusha committed suicide by hanging from a fan at her residence in Mumbai's Goregaon area. Nearly half a decade later, television producer Vikas Gupta revealed that he once dating Banerjee. Gupta said that Banerjee came to know about him being bisexual after they broke up.
