According to a study conducted by Upwork, it helps to have specialized skills to be able to live in more expensive places like San Francisco or New York City. According to their report, while most firms don't really support a work from home policy, many firms have been turning their tracks to allow for these as more skilled workers prefer staying in their own home than travelling to other places in search for work.
