50% jump in people caught for attempting to illegally enter Bangladesh

Amid all the hue and cry over the Citizenship Amendment Act that came into force on January 10, 2020, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has revealed that the number of people caught while trying to cross over to Bangladesh from India increased by over 50% with a total of 2,971 people arrested by the Border Security Force in 2018. A large number of people caught while trying to illegally emigrate were women and children.
