Archaeologists have discovered vividly painted wooden coffins near the Egyptian city of Luxor, the ancient town of West Thebes. The treasure trove has tombs dating back to the Middle, New Kingdom and the Late Periods, from the timeframe of 1994 B.C. to 332 B.C. The area is known as the Asasif Tombs because it is surrounded by burials. The tombs are situated next to the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Asasif Necropolis.
