Atal Tunnel, world's longest highway tunnel connecting Manali with Leh, completed in 10 years

The construction of the Atal Tunnel, which is the world`s longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet connecting Manali with Leh, has been completed in a span of 10 years. However, the original estimated time for the construction of the tunnel was less than six years. The tunnel is equipped with CCTV cameras at every 60 metres and there are emergency exit tunnels at every 500 metres inside the tunnel
