Australia's population recorded a decline for the first time in more than 100 years. The decline in population was majorly due to the halt in the arrival of migrants amid the Covid related restrictions. "The last time we saw population decline was the year to December 1916, during World War I," said the bureau's demography director, Phil Browning. The country's population increased by less than 1% in the year to September 2020.
