According to a study by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the reason behind fewer Covid deaths in poorer countries in comparison to those that have a high GDP is better "immune training". “Better sanitation leads to poorer ‘immune training’ and thus could be leading to higher (deaths per million),” the study said. Dr. Shekhar Mande, director-general of CSIR said a higher age profile also accounted for more deaths.
