BMC spent Rs 600 crore over coronavirus pandemic, received Rs 84 crore by Maharashtra govt

Amid rising number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation claimed that it spent Rs 600 crore over the pandemic. The civic body mentioned that it has received Rs 84 crore from the Maharashtra govt. BMC hasn't asked for additional funds, because it is dipping into its 850 crore 'contingency fund' kept in place for unforeseen emergencies. BMC used a total of Rs 600 crore from its contingency fund.
