A British military dog named Kuno, a Belgian Shepherd Malinois, that was part of the UK's assault force raiding a compound in an undisclosed mountainous region in Afghanistan, has been awarded 'Dickin Medal', the animal equivalent of the Victoria Cross. Kuno charged through a series of gunfire and brought down a gunman, helping the soldiers to take cover. The dog was injured and underwent several operations.
