Causing pollution now a serious offence in Delhi NCR, 5-year jail term and Rs 1 crore fine for offenders

In a major move to tackle the increasing pollution in the Delhi NCR region, the centre has issued an ordinance making pollution a serious offence with a jail term that can go up to 5-year and a fine worth Rs. 1 crore. The ordinance has been issued after President Ram Nath Kovind gave his not to it. A commission for air quality management will be set up in the National Capital Region (NCR) and neighbouring areas
