Cyclone Vayu changes course not to hit Gujarat; Maharashtra on alert

Though 500 coastal villages were evacuated yesterday in Gujarat after the warning about cyclone Vayu was issued, IMD has said that the cyclone will not hit the state now as it has changed its course overnight. But high-speed winds and heavy rains will be noticed. Also, Maharashtra has been put on alert after heavy rains and high winds. IMD further said Vayu may weaken into Category 1 storm after skirting Gujarat coast.
