Cyclone Yaas makes landfall in North Odisha, Bengal put on high alerts

A day after the evacuation of nearly a lakh people, Cyclone Yaas made landfall in North Odisha. The cyclone is expected to cross the coast between Odisha's Dhamra and Balasore, which is 150 km south of Kolkata, within the next three hours. Moving at a speed of over 17 kmph, the cyclone was 30 km south-southeast of Balasore at 9:30 am. The maximum wind speeds are expected to reach 185 km per hour as it intensifies.
