Dementia gene raises risk of severe COVID-19

A faulty gene linked to dementia might double the risk of developing severe COVID-19, according to a new study. Researchers found high risk of severe COVID-19 infection among those who have 2 faulty copies of APOE gene. This increases risks of Alzheimer's along with heart disease. Now, the scientists have found carrying these gene mutations doubles the risks of COVID-19, even in people who don’t have these diseases.
