First amongst Gulf nations, Qatar to allow permanent residence for expatriates

Qatar will now allow 100 expatriates to obtain permanent residence each year. Qatar is the first among the Gulf nations to offer permanent residency cards which will entitle its holder to get the same education and health benefits as Qatari Nationals. A non-national would have to complete 20 years of ordinary residence in Qatar and have sufficient income, command of Arabic language to become a permanent resident.
