First patient to receive liver from living donor dies

The first patient, six-year-old Suraj from Jharkhand, to get a liver transplant from a live donor in Chandigarh’s medical education and research centre has died. The boy was supposed to receive a part of the liver by his 49-year-old grandmother. After 18 hours of the transplant procedure the doctor's were optimistic about the patient's survival. But, 22 days after the operation, Suraj succumbed to severe infection.
