Greenpeace declared India as the largest emitter of anthropogenic sulphur dioxide globally

According to an analysis by NASA and environmental NGO Greenpeace, India is the largest emitter of anthropogenic sulphur dioxide in the world. Singrauli in MP, Neyveli, and Chennai in TN, Korba in Chhattisgarh, Kutch in Gujarat are some of the major SO2 emission hotspots in the country. A Greenpeace campaigner said the country is facing an air-pollution emergency, and the power plants need to comply with the pollution limits.
