Highly contagious African swine fever detected in Philippines, 7000 pigs culled

The death of pig herds in Manila, Philippines have been caused by African swine fever, according to the lab tests. 16 out of 20 blood samples sent to the British lab tested positive for the disease. In the villages of Rizal and Bulacan provinces, more than 7,400 pigs have been culled on farms. The Department of Agriculture is verifying reports of infection in other areas. African swine fever doesn't affect humans.
