According to research published in the journal Nature Communications, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution have distinct regional impacts on wildfire outbreaks. According to Danielle Touma, a co-author of the study, suitable weather conditions such as warm, dry and windy conditions are necessary for a wildfire to ignite and spread. Touma said that large, severe fires are a result of extreme weather conditions.
