Japan's east coast hit by 5.3-magnitude earthquake

The east coast of Honshu, Japan, was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 at 22:04:42 GMT on Monday. The confirmation of the quake was given by the US Geological Survey. The epicentre of the quake was found to be at 33.1697 degrees north latitude and 142.6594 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10.0 km. The region has been prone to earthquakes and it has witnessed several quakes over the past few decades.
