Luzia, the first human fossil destroyed in Brazil museum fire

Luzia, the first human fossil that was found in Brazil was preserved in the Rio De Janeiro National Museum and it has been destroyed in the recent fire in the museum. It was the fossil of a woman of an upper palaeolithic period. The skeleton was discovered in Brazil in 1970. The skeleton was found buried under 40 feet of mineral deposits and many believed Luzia belonged to the first group of immigrants to South America.
