According to a study by researchers from the University of Leeds, nearly 28 trillion tonnes of ice melted from earth between the years 1994 and 2017. To simplify the stats, the amount of ice that the planet lost would be enough to cover the whole nation of the United Kingdom in an ice sheet over 300 feet thick. The annual rate at which planet earth lost the ice increased by over 65 percent between 1994 and 2017.
