'Neither a criminal offence under law nor punishable': Bombay High Court on Prostitution

The Bombay High Court ruled that prostitution is neither a criminal offence under law nor punishable. The court said this while overruling the decision of lower courts’ orders that detained three women in a corrective measure for nearly a year. The court ordered the release of the 3 women. However, it maintained that public solicitation of prostitution comes under criminal offence. The court said sexual exploitation is punishable.
