Zoological Survey of India, first spotted the unique specimen of flying squirrel on a summer evening in 1981 in Arunachal Pradesh's Namdapha National Park and named it Namdapha Flying Squirrel. The specimen is now preserved in the ZSI headquarters in Kolkata, which is the only evidence that flying squirrels existed. Since 1981, this squirrel has been not found anywhere in the world & so the search has begun.
