Notable poet and Padma Shri awardee Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri passes away at 94

Notable Malayalam poet and Jnanpith awardee Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri passed away on Thursday due to age-related complications. A Vedic scholar and freedom fighter, Namboothiri was also awarded the Padma Shri award. He was 94. He was born in 1926 and had mastered all the Vedas by the age of 14. He was also awarded the Kendra Sahitya Akademy award in 1976. Namboothiri was a close associate of Marxist legend EMS Namboodiripad.
