NSO report reveals nearly 60% students in India travel to school on foot

According to the latest report by the National Statistical Organisation, over 59.7 percent of students in India travel to school on foot. The number is much higher in rural areas. As far as gender-based data is concerned 62 percent of girls travel to school on foot in comparison to 57.9% of boys. In rural areas, 61.4% of boys walk to school while 66.5 of girls walk to school. The number stands at 57.9% and 62% in urban areas.
