Number of species in tropical waters declined by 50% due to climate change

According to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the total number of open-water species living in tropical marine zones has declined by nearly 50% in the last four decades due to climate change. Climate Change led to an increase in the sea surface temperatures by nearly 0.2 degrees Celsius. Previous studies have revealed that fishes were migrating to cooler waters amid climate change.
