Over 10.76 million trees marked for cutting since 2015 for developing infrastructure

According to the response of the Union environment ministry in Rajya Sabha, 10.76 million trees have been marked for felling in forests and other areas for the development of infrastructure, since 2015. 1.263 million trees have been marked for felling in 2019-20 itself. The highest (30.36 lakh trees) were marked for cutting in 2018-19. Telangana accounts for the most number of trees (1.6 million) marked for cutting.
