Padma Shri awardee 'Sulagitti' dies at 98, to get state funeral honour

Padma Shri Awardee 'Sulagitti' Narasamma, who helped deliver over 15,000 babies free of charge in rural Karnataka, has died at the age of 98 after being on ventilator support for the last five days due to chronic lung disease. Narasamma, who will get a funeral with state honours, could feel the pulse of the baby in the womb without any instruments and helped new mothers with Ayurvedic medicines for over 70 years.
