Pakistan's Himalayan pink salt to be registered for GI tag

Pakistan government is going to register Himalayan pink salt as Geographical Indications (GI). The step is being taken to prevent unauthorised use of the product by other countries. GI tag is a special kind of sign that is given to products that come from a specific geographical origin and the qualities of the product are origin-specific as well. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Commerce Adviser Razak Dawood.
