President gives nod to 105th Constitutional amendment bill

President Ramnath Kovind has given his nod to the 105th Constitutional amendment bill. The bill will empower states to identify socio-economic backward classes. With the President's nod, the Supreme Court verdict in the Maratha reservation case can now be reversed. The top court had said in its ruling that the power to identify socio-economic backward classes lies with the President. The bill was passed in Lok Sabha last week.
