The scientists in Russia have struck gold as they recovered bones of a 10,000-year-old woolly mammoth after completing the operation to pull them from the bottom of a Siberian lake. It took them five days of hard work at the silt of Lake Pechenelava-To in the remote Yamal peninsula to find the remains. About 90% of the animal has been retrieved after two such missions. The mammoth is thought to have 10 feet tall.
