According to a report released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India has more underweight women than sub-Saharan Africa. The report also stated that malnutrition is the leading cause of the deaths of infants. The medical report published in British Journal 'The Lancet' states that malnutrition is the main reason behind the chronic deficiency of energy among women of reproductive age.
