Report suggest that a quarter children in NZ report to welfare agencies
A report by Auckland University of Technology says that 10% children have faced abuse and neglect over 20 years. With 55,443 children tracked, nearly a quarter of children born in 1998 ended up reporting New Zealand’s welfare agencies. 23.5% children had at least made one report by the age of 17 and 60% of children were in state care in Māori. The report has raised questions about child welfare systems to wand their working.
