Research found plastic is harming organisms that produce 10% of world’s oxygen

We have been aware of the harmful effects of plastic on our environment and our health, but very few have researched about its effect on ocean life. To look at this aspect, the researchers at Macquarie University prepared contaminated seawater with plastic bags & PVC, which revealed that plastic pollution has severely reduced Prochlorococcus's rate of growth & oxygen production. Prochlorococcus creates 10% of the world's oxygen.
