The novel coronavirus attacks primarily the lungs and scientists have figured out how it happens. 2 studies have shed light on these processes using the same approach. Scientists develop lungs in the lab, infected them with coronavirus, and observed the battle between lungs and the virus. They observed how the virus damages the alveoli in the lungs which causes pneumonia and acute respiratory distress.
