Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, the first person to walk in space, dies at 85

Alexei Leonov is a veteran Russian cosmonaut who carried out the first spacewalk in the year 1965 has passed away in Moscow. He was 85 years old. He became part of the carefully chosen 20 Soviet Air Force pilot team where he became friends with Yuri Gagarin. Leonov could also become the first man on the Moon but the costly Soviet mission was cancelled while the US Apollo crew successfully touched down on Lunar surface.
